The Ritz-Craft Legacy is BornRitz-Craft was founded and began operations in a newly built plant in Argos, Indiana. Once the plant was up and running we started a line of “travel trailers.”

New Owners and New Product LinesFresh beginnings mean exciting opportunities. After being acquired by Wickes Corporation, now known as Wickes Lumber, Ritz-Craft expanded its product line to include system-built homes.

1976
Dedicated Managers to Passionate OwnersPaul R. John, Don Ritzenthaler, Glenn Cunningham, and Bob Roney built a home at Ritz-Craft. That’s why when presented with the opportunity, the four original managers purchased the company from Wickes. Together, they consolidated operations to a centralized headquarters and manufacturing plant in Mifflinburg, PA.

A Plan for the FutureKnowing they needed a plan for the future, Ritz-Craft owners put a formal succession plan in place. Paul D. John was named President/CEO and Eric John was named Vice President of Operations.

1995
A Move to Build DreamsRitz-Craft knew their success as a custom modular construction company relied on their partnerships with builders. To set the groundwork, Ritz-Craft Corporation established Designer Homes of Pennsylvania to act as an official Ritz-Craft builder in the Mifflinburg, Pennsylvania area.

It’s What’s on the Inside That CountsIt’s the character inside a home that makes it unique for each family. Ritz-Craft’s dedication to the home building process as a whole continued to grow in 1998 when Legacy Crafted Cabinets began operations in its 65,000 sq. ft. facility building hand-crafted kitchen cabinets.

Making Moves to MichiganRelationships expanded beyond the Pennsylvania border, creating more demand for Ritz-Craft quality homes. To meet those demands, a new 175,000 sq. ft. manufacturing facility is built in Jonesville, Michigan.

New Beginnings in North CarolinaAnother spike in referrals and relationships sparks the building of a 200,000 sq. ft. manufacturing facility in Hamlet, North Carolina.

2006
It’s Time to Hit the HighwayEvery Ritz-Craft home is built with the stress of transportation in mind. Still, we wanted to ensure each modularly constructed home was delivered with Ritz-Craft quality and care. So, we established Ritz-Trans for the safe and efficient shipping of homes built with modular construction.

A Direct Line to Quality Building ProductsLegacy Building Products becomes a company-owned warehousing and distribution arm for many name brand products used in the construction of Ritz-Craft homes, ensuring every home is built with superior products.

2009
Need for Legacy Crafted CabinetsAn increase in kitchen cabinetry demand led to Legacy Crafted Cabinets purchasing a 250,000 sq. ft. manufacturing building formerly owned by Yorktowne Cabinets. Legacy Crafted Cabinets, a company-owned arm of Ritz-Craft, expands its semi-custom cabinet offerings. The Legacy Crafted brand is exclusive Ritz-Craft in the modular construction industry.

A Facelift for Cabinet ManufacturingThe best work is done when skilled craftsman have a state-of-the-art space, tools, and technology to work with on a daily basis. After a $2 million renovation, Legacy Crafted Cabinet employees were able to do just that in the new manufacturing facility.

2013
Rusty Rail Brewing CompanyRusty Rail Brewing Company opened their doors as a destination in Mifflinburg, PA, that everyone could be proud of and pay tribute to the generations of hard-working families that built the community. The building now showcases historic memorabilia, murals and repurposed building materials. The Rusty Rail is so much more than a brewery and pub: offering a large, unique space for weddings, events and corporate meetings. Equipped with over-night accommodations, this building is the perfect place for our builders to stay while they are in town, as well as local and out of town guests.

A 60th Anniversary to RememberOur 60th anniversary celebration in 2014 is marked with extra exuberance as we take home five of the 2014 Jerry Rouleau Awards for Excellence in Marketing and Home Design from the Building Systems Council and the National Association of Home Builders. To top the year off, we also won Professional Builder Magazine’s Best of the Best System-Built Modular Award.

Forces Unite to Create Johns Buckley, LLCWhen modular powerhouses from Ritz-Craft Homes and Vaughan Buckley Construction joined forces, the possibilities were instantly endless. Eric and Paul John from here at Ritz-Craft along with Vaughan Buckley and Robert Schmalbach of Vaughan Buckley Construction created John Buckleys after a decade of successful collaboration. Now, the company is providing commercial modular components, a growing need of commercial modular construction.

The Freedom of Homeownership is CelebratedRitz-Craft recognizes the importance of homeownership for buyers in all financial situations. That’s why we created our Master-Craft division in 2019 to better serve our value-minded buyers. The move allows us to have designers and craftsman alike working diligently on both the Master-Craft line and our Ritz-Craft custom homes.

2021
Laying the Foundation to Close the Skills GapMany industries are facing a widening skills gap in their multi-generational workforces. We recognized the effects this type of gap can have in our own facilities and set out to help our employees master their skills — and pass them on. This year, we launched our Employee Training Center where Ritz-Craft employees can transfer decades of on-the-job knowledge onto the next generation of Ritz-Craft craftsmen and craftswomen.
