Johnstown Two-Story

This home won the 2014 Jerry Rouleau Award for Home Design in the 3,001 - 4,000 sq. ft. category.

by Myles Biggs

A true ‘move-up’ home, this large two-story was built by DB Homes and has 3,504 square feet of total living space. The first floor features an open layout with a family room, den, a high-end kitchen, formal dining room and 1,406 square feet of living space. The second floor of the home features the master suite, three additional bedrooms, a bonus room and a utility room – totaling 2,098 square feet of living space.

After passing through a site-built porch, home owners enter into a formal foyer area. Directly opposite the front door is a coat closet; to the right are steps to the upper level and an entrance to the dining area and to the left is an entrance to the living room and a hallway that leads to the kitchen.

The foyer, hall and steps all feature hardwood floors. The hardwood carries into the formal dining area of the home, which also features a coffered ceiling. The home’s gourmet kitchen features upgraded 7 PC Shaker Spice Maple cabinets with a Mocha Glaze. The kitchen island is painted Linen in color with a Mocha Glaze to accent the rest of the cabinetry. In addition to its upgraded cabinetry, the kitchen features multiple storage solutions.

Additional features of the lower level include a half bath, a spacious family room, a living room complete with a fireplace and sliding doors that open into a site-built back porch.

The upper level of this home features a spacious master suite with a large walk-in closet. The master bathroom includes a 48” glass door shower with ceramic surround, a large drop-in tub with cabinet fronts and tile decking, his-and-her vanity sinks and added linen cabinet storage. Also on the upper level are three additional bedrooms, a small office area at the top of the stairs, a bonus room, a utility room and another bathroom.

Beyond the obvious aesthetic appeal of this home, it is also Energy Star Qualified. The home makes use of a geo-thermal heating and cooling system and received a HERS Index of 52 – making it 48% more energy efficient than the minimum code built home.

Hi Melissa, we're happy to hear you like the flooring!

The builder of this home purchased the flooring locally at a place named McClure and McClure. It is known as 5" Provincial Chelsea Ash.
